Commercial Case Study - PV Ground Mounted Tracker System

Project:   Ground Mounted PV Tracker System
Location: Swaffham, Norfolk
Date:      June 2010

The Green Electrician was approached to design and install a state of the art Deger Tracker System at the EcoTech Environmental Education Centre in Swaffham, Norfolk.

The 7.92kWp PV tracker system is the largest of its kind in the UK, with 44 Sharp 180W panels titling towards the sun, increasing efficiency by up to 25-35% on a standard system. As part of the project, the client requested a public display for visitors and a NaturalWatt real time update system for the website, showing ouput statistics and carbon saving, to be used for education purposes.

"This is a ground breaking project for the UK, where the solar industry is still very new. Elsewhere in Europe these highly efficient Deger tracker systems are more common place. Ecotech will benefit from the electricity as well as the Government's new feed-in tariff which will pay a premium for every unit of electricity that is generated," says Installation Director, Paul Taylor.

Stuart Weaver, manager at the Ecotech Centre said: “Our huge new solar tracker is a fantastic sight and a great addition to the centre, showing people the power of the sun right alongside that of the wind with our famous turbine.”
